Down to earth MasterChef finalist, Dean Edwards, is known for his flavoursome, family orientated food, without the fuss. A talent in the kitchen, Dean’s ability to cook up a storm, combined with his relatable and easy-going demeanor has ensured he is a firm favourite for on-screen appearances, becoming a regular contributor to the most popular television cooking shows. Able to build an instant rapport with audiences, when booked for live cooking demonstrations, Dean not only offers hands-on advice when it comes to the kitchen but also shares stories from his varied career.

Making his media debut as a contestant on MasterChef Goes Large in 2006, Dean impressed not only the world-class judges but the millions of viewers watching his journey. Staying loyal to his ethos of creating tasty dishes with fresh, accessible ingredients, Dean cooked his way to the finals. Being beaten at the last hurdle to the trophy, Dean may have come second on the show, but came first in the eye’s of the nation. Snapped up for several opportunities after the series aired, Dean has been a resident chef on ITV’s Lorraine since 2010 and made appearances on This Morning in the culinary segments.

The Bristol-born chef hasn’t always been a prominent figure in the food world, as a former digger driver, he only followed his passion for cooking in 2005. Inspired by the home cooking of his father, Dean’s appreciation of fresh ingredients and simple dishes was developed at a young age. From humble roots to pursuing his dreams, Dean’s days on the digger are long gone, as the relatable star has gone on to publish three recipe books. Aiming to inspire the time-poor home chef, Dean’s books include ‘Cook Slow’ a book dedicated to the reliable slow cooker, and ‘Feelgood Family Food’, for quick and tasty recipes.

Appealing to a range of demographics, Dean’s media presence is undeniable, with his credits inducing: Take on the Takeaway, Market Kitchen and Saturday Cookbook. Additionally, Dean has dedicated his time to developing his YouTube channel ‘Dean Edwards Proper Food’ where he demonstrates some of his recipes in an accessible way. Replicating the same success in person, Dean’s live cooking displays are entertaining and educational.
