Karun Chandhok is an F1 commentator, technical analyst and pit lane reporter who has worked with global broadcasters, Channel 4, BBC, Bein Sport and his current employer, Sky Sports. His early career would see him record wins in Asia, where he won the Formula Maruti in India in 2000 and the Formula 2000 Asia in 2001 as part of SMR Team India. This saw him move to British Formula 3 where he received a third place podium finish in the British Formula 3 Championship - National Class in 2003. Having become a test driver for the Red Bull Formula 1 team in 2007, he would go onto race in 11 Formula One World Championships throughout his career, racing for Lotus and the Hispania Racing Team becoming one of just two racers from India to star in F1.
After competing in F1, he would go onto have success in other motorsport events, competing in 24 Hours of Le Mans on three occasions, each time finishing in the top six. This would make him the first Indian to have ever competed in the prestigious race. Offering intriguing insight on the sport and a wide range of technical know-how that allows him to work closely with engineers, he has become a respected pit lane reporter and analyst, in addition to a columnist for both Sky Sports and Autosport. He says: "I believe that I've been able to develop and offer viewers a unique perspective of someone with a technical, strategic and historical knowledge of the sport combined with the experience of 18 years of driving racing cars."
His efforts have been well-received on the speaking circuit too, as he has offered corporate audiences lessons on peak performance, media reporting and teamwork from his experiences behind the wheel and the camera. Having contributed greatly to the Vishnu Devananda Charitable Trust, and other charities during his time in motorsports, he is the perfect addition for charitable engagements such as gala dinners. Combining stories of his career journey with a natural charisma and charm, Karun has graced some of the UK's top venues as an event and awards ceremony host.
